I waited to find out what was so beautiful about this movie and I waited and waited and watched, and found out that Stanley called my name Stellaaaaaaaaaa for all time, and I melted and I drowned, because this erotic sexy guy called my name like no other man on the universe ever did. Brando, you HIT THE SPOT, because I am STELLA THE STAR.
hmmmm! do they get made like that now! there something so raw physically n emotionally bout brando in this scene, sends quivers. One of the sexiest scenes in a movie… on a hot new orleans nite! they just dont make films that raw anymore…..
because women are weak and alot of them like to have control on an even weaker man. but this guy…good luck to a woman ever trying to control him….he can get any woman he wants because he will always have the power over women. even if that scene he is still in complete control…whatever he does she comes back to him, thats the whole point of the movie
naturally they changed the end because its hollywood and they dont want to show that the bad guy can win
@Ichiro20 stanley (the man screaming) got drunk playing poker and hit stella therfore she ran upstaires to unice’s (the lady that came out and yelled at stanley)
@SuperModelVogue Of course you’re supposed to be attracted to him, that’s the point of the character. He’s wild, athletic, and he’s played by Marlon Brando XD, we just can’t help it. But the audience, unlike Stella, is able to recognize Stanley’s true nature and see he’s not worth it. Too bad that many girls still act like Stella when living with an abusive man.
@JuanMacready: The set does look like it was handmade but I would imagine it was because it wanted to stick as close to the play as possible and even have the set as if it was a set for the stage/play instead of a movie.

Marlon and Vivien made this film so good. Without them as the leads it wouldn’t have been the same.
Kim Hunter did a flawless performance, same with Brando. Women must of swooned at this scene, he has a very sensual physique.

Why did Brando not win the Academy Award for his portrayal of Stanley?
